Nassir is from Pondeani, a town on the western part of the island of Pemba, just off the coast of mainland Tanzania. He hopes to become a dairy farmer. Nassir has previously worked as a poultry farmer but most of his animals died recently due to disease. In the past, he's had experience working with cattle. He is 35 years old and married with four children, ranging in age from 1 1/2 to 7 years old. As a poultry farmer, he earned roughly US$ 65 (100,000 TZS) per year. His wife works as a school teacher and earns a salary of roughly US$ 950 (1,500,000 TZS) annually.

As part of the Pondeani group, Nassir is looking forward to helping to open the local branch of Pemba Fresh, the island's first dairy farm, where he and the group will care for the cattle and produce fresh milk, eventually expanding to cheese, yogurt, butter, ghee, and other products. Through dairy farming, Nassir has the potential to vastly increase his income and improve his daily life.
