Cherif Ndiaye
Tour Guide
About - Cherif Ndiaye
Cherif is a tour guide who is originally from St. Louis, Senegal. While his family remains in St. Louis, Cherif currently rents a room in Pikine, a suburb of the Senegalese capital Dakar, so that he can be closer to the center of the tourist industry and business opportunities. Cherif is 51 years old and after many years of working for tour agencies, where he was not able to keep most of what he earned, decided to set out on his own.
With help from 50/50, Cherif launched his own company, Senegal Cultural Tours. Cherif is a strong believer in helping visitors to experience Senegal authentically, and has designed several innovative ways of seeing the country that you won't find at any other tour operator. With Cherif, you can explore a peanut farm (peanuts are one of Senegal's most important crops), learn to play local music from a djembe drummer, hear folklore from Fulani or Wolof villages, and even learn to cook Senegal's amazing cuisine, including Thiéboudienne, the national dish. If you (or your friends) are thinking of visiting Senegal, check out Senegal Cultural Tours here and contact Cherif to make plans for an unforgettable trip: http://senegalculturaltours.blogspot.com/
Cherif is married and has two children. He has visited New York in order to receive medical treatment for his daughter, Nabou. You can read their story here: http://articles.nydailynews.com/2008-12-09/news/17912377_1_hearing-aids-new-yorkers-doctor
