Miza is 42 years old and lives in the village of Pete on Zanzibar. She is divorced and has 5 children. Prior to her divorce, Miza's family was earning 80,000 TZS (about US$ 50) each month; since then, things have been more difficult. Miza does some farming and sells fruit to men working on a construction project near the village.

Miza was one of 50/50's first entrepreneurs and received start-up funding of 120,000 TZS (about US$ 80). After getting all her equipment, acquiring new business skills, and learning how to raise caterpillars, she began farming. Unfortunately, her difficult family circumstances prevented her from being able to focus on butterfly farming as much as she had hoped. From January to December 2011, she was able to earn an additional 96,575 TZS (about US$ 60) from butterfly farming, and pay back the loan portion of her start-up funding in full. Miza hopes to be able to earn more from butterfly farming in the months ahead to provide for her family.
