Salim is 51 years old and lives in Unguja Ukuu in southwestern Zanzibar. He and his wife have one son, Mansour, who is 5 years old. Salim earns about 20,000 (about US$ 12) TZS a month from selling the crops he farms--mangoes, citrus fruits, and coconuts. His wife earns an additional 10,000 TZS (about US$ 6) monthly income from selling rice, maize, and cooking small meals. Salim is teaching himself English.
With start-up funding of 120,000 TZS (about US$ 80) from 50/50, Salim embarked on a new career as a butterfly farmer. Salim makes the 8km trip by bicycle from his home in Unguja Ukuu to Pete in order to sell pupae at Zanzibar Butterfly Centre.

Jamie olis truly was unfairly snnceeted. Having the amazing opportunities to visit with olis personally, I have the abillity to say this for sure. Even still, a more obvious dentence for olis, would be that of his colleagues: Foster and Sharky whom were snnceeted to less than a year each. A 6 year sentence at a medium security prison, after appeal, is outrageous for an honestly hard working, good intentioned man. |
